inspection website.jpgAbout Fire Inspections
Fire Inspections are conducted for the safety of the community in approximately 3,000 occupancies each year. Fire District personnel assist business owners in obtaining compliance with fire code requirements for the protection of life and property and to reduce the risk of an emergency occurring.

Priority Inspections
Occupancies with higher fire and life safety hazards as well as all businesses new to the community are inspected by Community Risk Reduction officers. Examples of the types of occupancies inspected by fire prevention officers include:

  • Assemblies
  • Hazardous materials
  • High-piled storage
  • Care facilities
  • Special extinguishing systems
  • Occupancies with a reduced hazard level are visited by Engine Company personnel

Occupancy Inspections
Buildings are inspected on a regular basis by Fire District personnel to ensure compliance with state and local codes.  The types of buildings inspected are:

  • Businesses
  • Factories
  • Restaurants
  • Churches
  • Schools
  • Senior citizen housing
  • Other buildings that could pose significant risks to its occupants or the public

Although single family residences are generally inspected by request only, there are approximately 300 residences in designated High Fire Hazard areas within the Fire District's jurisdiction that are inspected each spring for brush clearance and emergency access. A site for the disposal of trimmings is provided to residents living in the High Fire Hazard areas to support their fire safety efforts.

Permitted Inspections

Most inspections require a Fire Permit. Permits are issued and fees assessed in accordance with the Fire Code and the Fire District Fee Schedule ordinance.  View the Fire Districts Fee for Service Ordinance.

The Fire District enforces the 2013 California Fire Code, Fire District Standards, and other applicable state codes and local ordinances.
